HB 1555 Summary

• Requires all deaths in a county to be reported to the county coroner, who determines whether investigation is needed.

• Coroner is exempt from following organ and tissue procurement procedures under IC 29-2-16.1 if procurement would impede or interfere with a death investigation.

• Amends existing coroner duties regarding death investigations, autopsy requirements, and notification of crematory authorities and cemetery owners.

• Effective July 1, 2011.
