Proposes amendment to Article 1 of the Indiana Constitution to add Section 38 restricting marriage recognition to unions between one man and one woman.

Prohibits Indiana from recognizing or validating any legal status identical or substantially similar to marriage for unmarried individuals.

Requires passage by two consecutive general assemblies and ratification by majority of Indiana voters to become effective.

Passed House on February 15, 2011 with vote of 70 yeas to 26 nays; reported favorably from Senate Judiciary Committee on March 24, 2011.
