SB 41 - Gary Riverboats

• Permits licensed riverboat owners operating in Gary to submit plans to the gaming commission for constructing inland casinos within city limits, with commission approval based on economic development and specified criteria.

• Allows not more than one riverboat gambling operation to be relocated from a dock on Lake Michigan to an inland casino location in Gary.

• Authorizes two riverboat licenses for Gary operations under two options: (A) two riverboats at pre-January 1, 2011 approved Lake Michigan dock sites, or (B) one at an approved Lake Michigan site and one at an inland location approved after June 30, 2011.

• Requires operators of inland Gary casinos to implement flexible scheduling for gambling operations and modifies regulatory requirements to exempt inland casinos from certain riverboat design and safety standards.

• Removes obsolete provisions concerning the original riverboat licensing process and makes conforming changes to definition of "home" and tax revenue distribution terminology.

• Effective July 1, 2011.
