Senate Bill 111 Summary

• Amends IC 35-42-4-7 to add a new provision creating criminal liability for law enforcement officers who engage in sexual conduct with minors.

• Law enforcement officers who engage in sexual intercourse, deviate sexual conduct, or fondling/touching with intent to arouse sexual desires with a child ages 16-17 commit child seduction.

• The offense applies only when the law enforcement officer is at least five years older than the child victim.

• Child seduction by a law enforcement officer is classified as a Class D felony.

• Effective date is July 1, 2011.
