Senate Bill 114 Summary

• Requires presidential candidates to certify they meet U.S. Constitutional qualifications (Article 2, Section 1, clause 5) and submit a certified birth certificate with their declaration of candidacy or ballot placement request.

• Prohibits the election division from certifying presidential candidates on primary ballot lists unless the required certification and birth certificate documentation has been received.

• Requires state political party chairmen to certify that their presidential and vice presidential nominees meet Constitutional qualifications and submit certified birth certificates accompanying the certification.

• Prohibits the election division from certifying presidential and vice presidential nominees for the general election ballot unless all required documentation and certification has been received.

• Effective date: July 1, 2011.
