Senate Bill 140 Summary

• Prohibits hospitals licensed under Indiana Code and hospital governing boards from entering into employment contracts with health care providers that include noncompetition agreement clauses.

• Noncompetition clauses cannot restrict health care providers from working at another hospital or health care setting in the area for a specified period after employment ends.

• Applies to employment contracts entered into or renewed on or after July 1, 2011.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2011, with the applicability provision expiring July 1, 2013.
