SB 156 Summary

• Amends Indiana Code sections 7.1-5-1-3 and 7.1-5-1-6 to add requirements for public intoxication convictions
• Requires that a person cannot be convicted of public intoxication unless they endanger their own life, endanger another person's life, or breach the peace or are in imminent danger of breaching the peace
• Applies the same requirement to intoxication in vehicles used for public transportation, common carriers, or transportation facilities (depots, stations, airports, waiting rooms, platforms)
• Maintains Class B misdemeanor classification for violations meeting the new criteria
• Effective July 1, 2011
