Senate Bill No. 244 Summary

• Provides exemption from fines, permit suspension, and permit revocation for alcoholic beverage retailers and dealers when an employee or agent with an unexpired server certificate commits a violation of serving alcohol to a minor.

• Adds a new affirmative defense allowing permit holders to avoid penalties in proceedings if the sale was made by an employee or agent who held a valid server certificate at the time of the violation.

• Prevents civil judgments from being assessed against retailer or dealer permit holders when an employee or agent with an unexpired server certificate violates the law against furnishing alcohol to minors.

• Effective July 1, 2011.
