Expands the types of mental health professionals courts can appoint to evaluate defendant competency by adding physicians and psychologists endorsed as health service providers by the Indiana State Board of Examiners in Psychology.

Requires at least one appointed evaluator to be a psychiatrist or psychologist, and prohibits any evaluator from being an employee or contractor of a state institution.

Authorizes the Division of Mental Health and Addiction to provide competency restoration services in the defendant's current residence or least restrictive setting appropriate to their needs and safety.

Allows competency restoration services to be provided at a Department of Correction facility if the defendant is serving an unrelated sentence at the time of commitment.

Requires courts to transmit competency findings to the Division of State Court Administration for transmission to NICS in accordance with existing law.
