Senate Bill No. 287 Summary

• Permits the state board of education to select and contract with an eligible provider to deliver adult education programs if a school corporation's governing body declines to provide those services.

• Defines "qualified provider" as either a school corporation or an eligible provider under federal law (20 U.S.C. 9202).

• Allows school corporations to deliver adult education programs independently or in collaboration with other eligible providers.

• Extends reimbursement eligibility for appropriated state funds from school corporations only to any qualified provider delivering adult education.

• Effective July 1, 2011.
