SB 301 Summary

• Establishes automated record keeping fees collected by court clerks in all civil, criminal, infraction, and ordinance violation actions at $7 before July 1, 2011; $6 from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2013; and $4 after June 30, 2013.

• Allows circuit court clerks to retain $1 of each automated record keeping fee if directed by the county council, with retained funds used for case management system leases or purchases.

• Increases public defense administration fee in civil actions from $3 to $5, effective July 1, 2011.

• Increases semiannual state transfers to the public defense fund from $2,700,000 to $3,700,000, beginning July 1, 2011.

• Effective date: July 1, 2011.
