• Prohibits smoking in public places, enclosed areas of employment, state vehicles used for governmental functions, and within 12 feet of public entrances effective July 1, 2011.

• Establishes enforcement authority with the alcohol and tobacco commission as primary enforcer, with support from the department of health, local health departments, and division of fire and building safety.

• Creates Class B infraction penalties for smoking violations, escalating to Class A infraction for individuals with three or more prior unrelated judgments.

• Prohibits employers and business owners from firing, refusing to hire, or retaliating against individuals for reporting violations or exercising rights under the smoking prohibitions.

• Repeals the previous clean indoor air law (IC 16-41-37) and allows local governments to adopt more restrictive ordinances.
