Senate Bill 378 Summary

• Expands the definition of "taxicab" to include vehicles designed to carry not more than 16 individuals (including driver) that are held out for hire to members of the public who do not operate motor vehicles for health or religious reasons, operated intrastate only, and not on a definite route.

• Requires a minimum of $1,000,000 in financial responsibility for motor vehicles operated as taxicabs under the expanded definition.

• Becomes effective July 1, 2011.

• Amends IC 8-2.1-17-16 and IC 9-25-4-5.
