Senate Bill 514 Summary

• Expands the "do not call" list to include mail sent through United States mail soliciting consumer goods, services, or charitable contributions, renaming it the "do not contact" list.

• Allows consumers to register either their residential telephone number, mailing address, or both on the do not contact list.

• Prohibits solicitors from making telephone sales contacts to listed phone numbers or sending mail to listed addresses.

• Renames the "consumer protection division telephone solicitation fund" to the "do not contact fund" for administering the expanded program.

• Effective July 1, 2011, with each telephone call or mailing violation considered a separate offense subject to civil penalties up to $25,000 per violation.
