IN SJR0009

Proposes addition of Section 38 to Article 1 of the Indiana Constitution establishing a constitutional right to hunt, fish, harvest game, and engage in agricultural or commercial production of meat, fish, or poultry.

Designates hunting and fishing as a valued part of Indiana's heritage to be preserved for the public good.

Makes exercise of these rights subject to laws and rules prescribed by the General Assembly.

Requires approval by two consecutive general assemblies and ratification by a majority of state voters to become effective.

Referred to Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources on January 5, 2011, and reported favorably on February 3, 2011.
