HB 1024 Summary

• Prohibits boat operators from operating vessels unless each child under 13 years of age onboard wears a Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device.

• Exempts the requirement when children are below deck, in an enclosed cabin, or when the boat is docked, moored, or anchored.

• Does not apply to boats used for commercial purposes.

• Directs all funds collected from infraction judgments for violations to be deposited into the fish and wildlife fund.

• Effective July 1, 2012.
