HB 1158 Summary

• Adds fire protection territories to the list of governmental entities exempt from vehicle registration fees for vehicles owned or leased and used for official business.

• Exempts fire protection territories from paying motor vehicle excise tax, excise tax on recreational vehicles and truck campers, and commercial vehicle excise tax on official business vehicles.

• Applies exemption to fire protection territories as defined in IC 36-8-19, effective after December 31, 2012.

• Effective date: July 1, 2012.
