HB 1282 Summary

• Removes the requirement that circuit court clerks attend court sessions and eliminates per diem compensation for court attendance.

• Permits training hours completed by individuals after election or selection as circuit court clerk and before taking office to count toward mandatory training requirements (15 hours within one year, 40 hours within three years).

• Requires court costs and fees to pay for the clerk's initial certified mail mailing to parties; subsequent certified mail requests must be paid by the requesting person.

• Authorizes clerks to retain up to $3 as an administrative fee when a person overpays a license fee by $3 or more, with retained amounts deposited in the clerk's record perpetuation fund.

• Effective July 1, 2012.
