Joe Ruhl of Lafayette Jefferson High School was awarded the National Science Teaching Award from the National Science Teaching Association on February 2nd, 2012, recognized as the top science educator in the country.

Mr. Ruhl earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Purdue University in 1977 and a Master of Science in Biology Education from Purdue in 1980.

Previously received the Outstanding Biology Teacher of Indiana Award in 1987, the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching in 1989, and the Purdue University School of Science Distinguished Alumnus Award for Excellence in K-12 Teaching in 1996.

The Indiana General Assembly congratulates Mr. Ruhl and recognizes his lifelong commitment to educating students in science and technology throughout his career in Indiana.

The Principal Clerk of the House shall transmit a copy of this resolution to Joe Ruhl at Lafayette Jefferson High School.
