Senate Bill No. 33 Summary

• Increases the minimum retirement annuity for surviving spouses or surviving children of judges from the 1977 or 1985 judges' retirement systems from $12,000 to $17,000.

• The increased minimum annuity amount of $17,000 applies to survivor benefits effective July 1, 2012, and thereafter.

• Applies to both the 1977 judges' retirement system and the 1985 judges' retirement system.

• Survivors are entitled to the greater of either 50% of the participant's retirement benefit or the minimum annuity amount specified in the updated table.
