SB 108 - Presidential Electors

• Requires each presidential elector to vote for the candidates of the political party, group of petitioners, or write-in candidate that nominated the elector.

• An elector's failure or refusal to vote as required constitutes automatic resignation from the office of elector, and their vote cannot be recorded.

• Remaining electors must immediately fill any vacancy created by an elector's resignation through paper ballot with majority vote of those present.

• The governor must be notified of the new elector's election and issue them a commission under IC 4-3-1-5.

• Effective date: July 1, 2012.
