Senate Bill No. 134 Summary

• Requires adults (21+) who know a minor possesses alcohol on their property to prohibit possession, confiscate the beverage if safe, and immediately contact the minor's parent or guardian.

• Excludes alcohol consumption connected to religious observations, in presence of parent/guardian/custodian, or at postsecondary educational institutions from the law's requirements.

• Violations are Class C infractions, upgraded to Class B infractions if six or more minors possessed alcohol or the person has a prior violation of this section.

• Limits charging to once per day per person and specifies violations are in addition to any criminal penalties for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
