Senate Bill 160 Summary

• Requires county fiscal body appropriation before money can be paid from certain county funds, including property reassessment funds, supplemental probation services funds, and jail commissary funds (changes current law allowing payments without appropriation).

• Modifies county supplemental juvenile probation services fund to allow money for providing (rather than just supplementing) probation services and paying part or all of juvenile probation officer salaries, with county fiscal body determining appropriation amounts.

• Modifies county and local supplemental adult probation services funds to allow money for providing (rather than just supplementing) probation services and paying part or all of probation officer salaries, with county or city/town fiscal body determining appropriation amounts.

• Repeals restrictions on using supplemental probation services funds to replace other funding sources and repeals restriction on using administrative fees solely for salary increases that became effective January 1, 2004.

• Changes sheriff's commissary fund reporting requirement from semiannual to monthly reporting of receipts and disbursements to county fiscal body.
