Beginning with students entering grade 9 in 2013, students pursuing a Core 40 high school diploma must complete at least one virtual instruction course before graduation.

School corporations must offer at least three virtual instruction courses and may not charge students or parents fees to comply with this requirement.

School corporations providing virtual instruction courses must fund them through existing resources and receive no additional state funding for offering these courses.

State universities providing virtual instruction courses as dual enrollment or dual credit courses cannot count those courses toward the higher education funding formula's dual enrollment/credit course components.

An interim study committee shall examine implementation costs, accessibility, instruction quality, and potential school funding formula adjustments related to virtual instruction courses, with final report due by December 31, 2012.
