Senate Bill 239 Summary

• Amends Indiana Code IC 27-4-1.6 to establish new regulations for property and casualty insurance claim payments.

• Prohibits insurers from denying coverage for damage to an insured when that damage is intentionally caused by another insured under the same policy, if the first insured was unaware of the intentional acts.

• Defines "property and casualty insurance" as coverage described in Class 2 or Class 3 of IC 27-1-5-1.

• Classifies violations of these provisions as unfair claim settlement practices under IC 27-4-1-4.5.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012.
