Senate Bill No. 383 Summary

• Expands the definition of "child abuse or neglect" to include children who are victims of sex crimes, battery by an adult resulting in injury to children under 14, neglect of a dependent, human trafficking, or sexual trafficking.

• Modifies the definition to apply specifically to IC 31-33-5, IC 31-33-6, and IC 31-33-22, while maintaining existing definitions for other statutes.

• Excludes sexual offense victims from the definition unless the offense involves fondling or touching of buttocks, genitals, or female breasts.

• Requires the same expanded definition to apply to "victim of child abuse or neglect" for reporting duties and related offenses.

• Effective July 1, 2012.
