Recognizes Dr. Jerry Thacker as the 2012 Indiana Superintendent of the Year, selected from seven District Superintendents of the Year by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents.

Credits Thacker's leadership of Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation for achieving Adequate Yearly Progress in all elementary and middle schools during 2009-2010, with five 4-Star schools and Penn High School named as one of 25 exemplary AP schools in Indiana.

Notes the district ranks in the top 5 percent of Indiana for SAT and AP scores and achieved millions of dollars in cost savings through innovative resource management in energy, property, and insurance expenses.

Highlights Thacker's 21 years in educational administration including previous positions as administrator at Metropolitan School Corporation of Lawrence Township and superintendent of Logansport Community School Corporation.

Directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of the resolution to Dr. Thacker and the Penn-Harris-Madison school board chairman.
