IN HB1017

Urges the legislative council to create or assign an interim study committee to examine farm winery permit holders' ability to sell wine directly to wine retailers and dealers during the 2013 legislative interim.

Directs the study committee to analyze current options available to Indiana farm wineries for distributing products to Indiana retailers.

Requires examination of the cost and effectiveness of distribution options for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of alcoholic beverages in Indiana.

Mandates study of how allowing direct sales from Indiana farm wineries to retailers and dealers would impact wine excise tax collection efficiency and out-of-state winery competition.

Effective July 1, 2013, with the study committee requirement expiring December 31, 2013.
