• Committee duties include reviewing monthly and annual reports from the Department of Child Services and ombudsman, evaluating contractor performance, and making legislative and administrative recommendations on child welfare services, mental health commitments, funding, and service delivery.

• Committee chairperson alternates annually between senate and house appointees during odd and even-numbered years respectively.

• Committee automatically expires January 1, 2019 and repeals the prior Department of Child Services Interim Study Committee that expired December 31, 2013.
