HB 1074 Summary

• Schools in the highest academic performance category are exempt from the 180-day instructional requirement if they meet minimum instructional hours instead.

• High-performing schools in grades 1-6 must conduct at least 900 hours of instructional time per year as an alternative to 180 days.

• High-performing schools in grades 7-12 must conduct at least 1,080 hours of instructional time per year as an alternative to 180 days.

• Schools that lose their highest performance designation must return to conducting at least 180 student instructional days in the following school year.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
