IN HB1136

Prohibits public schools and accredited nonpublic schools from beginning student instructional days before September 1, effective for the 2014-2015 school year and thereafter.

Exempts year-round schools with breaks not exceeding 6 weeks between instructional days, schools with balanced quarterly calendars, and schools coordinating calendars with postsecondary institutions.

Does not apply to collective bargaining agreements entered into before July 1, 2013.

Becomes effective July 1, 2013, amending Indiana Code 20-30-2-9.
