Elevates battery against a utility worker from a Class B misdemeanor to a Class D felony when the battery results in bodily injury and occurs while the worker is performing official duties

Defines "utility worker" as employees or independent contractors working for public utilities, municipally owned utilities, cable/satellite television companies, telecommunications carriers, electric cooperatives, telephone cooperatives, or nonprofit utilities

Adds utility workers to the existing list of protected workers that includes law enforcement officers, firefighters, school employees, health care providers, and corrections employees who receive enhanced battery protections

Effective date: July 1, 2013
