HB 1345 Summary

• Requires the Indiana Department of Natural Resources to identify and describe aquifers directly connected to the Wabash River, White River, and Ohio River basins by December 31, 2013, including their production potential.

• Mandates the department maintain a common database containing all information gathered about these aquifers and their connected basins.

• Requires the department to submit a status report on gathered basin information to the Water Resources Study Committee by October 31, 2013.

• Directs the department to develop water conservation measures for the three river basins consistent with conservation measures developed for the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin.

• Tasks the Water Resources Study Committee with studying water distribution system issues relevant to the three basins and identifying measures needed to create a stable grid linking existing water distribution systems during the 2013 legislative interim.
