HB 1351 Summary

• Extends retirement benefits eligibility to prosecuting attorneys with any service after June 30, 2006, allowing them to retire after eight years of service regardless of whether service occurred before July 1, 2006.

• Allows participants who previously withdrew from the prosecuting attorneys retirement fund to regain service credit for pre-withdrawal years by repaying the full amount they received upon withdrawal.

• Permits repayment for service credit restoration through a lump sum or up to five annual installments as determined by the board of trustees.

• Redefines "services" to mean the sum of all periods of qualifying employment rather than a continuous period, allowing for multiple disconnected service periods to count toward pension eligibility.

• Effective July 1, 2013, amending IC 33-39-7 regarding prosecuting attorney pension provisions.
