• Amends IC 20-26-7-1 to allow school corporations to sell or dispose of vacant or unused school buildings without the four-year charter school availability requirement if the building will be used by a local governmental entity.

• Requires school corporations to inform the Department of Education when a building is excluded from the charter school availability list due to local governmental use.

• Maintains existing requirements that vacant school buildings must be made available to charter schools for lease or purchase at one dollar per year, unless the building will be repurposed for local government use.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
