Education roundtable, with state board of education approval, establishes the Rewarding Innovation, Technology, and Excellence (RITE) program to provide grants to schools demonstrating improvement toward state-established benchmarks.

School corporations applying for grants must demonstrate how their innovation, use of technology, or efforts to achieve excellence have improved their performance against established benchmarks.

Grants are funded from the innovation fund, with school corporations required to match each dollar of state funding with at least one dollar of local money from school corporations, public school foundations, community foundations, or private sources.

Individual school corporations are limited to a maximum of $50,000 in total RITE program grants across all state fiscal years, with an overall program cap of $1,000,000 for all school corporations combined.

Effective July 1, 2013.
