HB 1505 Summary

• Requires circuit court clerks to provide copies of appointment certificates to the fiscal officer of the political subdivision when filling vacancies in local offices (except judicial offices) previously held by major party members.

• Mandates that persons or entities receiving resignation notices for local offices (except judicial offices) who lack power to fill the vacancy must notify the fiscal officer of the affected political subdivision within 72 hours.

• Applies to local offices such as prosecuting attorney, county auditor, county recorder, county treasurer, county sheriff, county coroner, and county surveyor.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
