House Bill 1508 Summary

• Requires courts to refer civil actions to mediation when one political subdivision sues another political subdivision, unless the court determines the matter is inappropriate for mediation.

• Court must issue the mediation referral no later than 45 days after the political subdivision files the civil action.

• Mediation must be conducted in accordance with the Indiana Rules for Alternative Dispute Resolution.

• Does not apply to civil actions filed in small claims court.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
