HB 1526 - School Evaluations

• Suspends the A-F school grading system (511 IAC 6.2-6) until the 2015-2016 school year.

• Restores the school performance categories or designations that were in effect on December 31, 2011, while the rule is suspended.

• Requires the Department of Education to review the underlying principles of the A-F grading rule and the adoption process, then make recommendations to the State Board of Education regarding whether the rule should remain, be amended, or be repealed.

• Mandates that the State Board of Education follow the Department's recommendations.

• Takes effect immediately upon passage and expires July 1, 2016.
