Sergeant JaBraun Steven Knox, assigned to 1st Battalion (Air Assault), 377th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Fires Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, died on May 18, 2012, in Asadabad, Afghanistan when an enemy rocket struck an ammunition storage area.

Sergeant Knox was born in Fort Wayne on July 13, 1988, graduated from DeKalb High School in 2007, and served in the United States Army for more than three years, including previous deployment to Iraq.

Sergeant Knox was an accomplished athlete at DeKalb High School, playing quarterback and defense in football and center field in baseball, earning all-conference honors and first-team all-area recognition.

Sergeant Knox was married to Courtney Beerbower on November 9, 2009, had a son named Braylon, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn.

The Indiana House of Representatives extends sympathy to Sergeant Knox's family and will transmit copies of this resolution to his family members.
