Honors Hannah Huff, a Southridge High School senior, for saving her teacher's life in 2009 by performing the Heimlich maneuver during a field trip to Washington, D.C.

Hannah Huff performed the life-saving maneuver on Mrs. Melissa Schraber, a science teacher at Southridge Middle School in Huntingburg, when she began choking during lunch.

Hannah had learned the Heimlich maneuver in health class and applied the technique after initial hesitation when Mrs. Schraber signaled she was choking.

Hannah Huff received a National Extraordinary Personal Action recognition award from the Red Cross of Southwestern Indiana for her quick actions.

The Indiana House of Representatives commends Hannah's compassion and directs the Principal Clerk to transmit a copy of the resolution to Hannah Huff and her family.
