Senate Bill 145 Summary

• Prohibits individuals convicted of voting-related offenses under Indiana Code Chapter 3-14-2 from being employed by the state or any county, municipality, or township for three years following sentencing.

• Automatically terminates employment of convicted individuals who are employed by the state or a local unit on the date of sentencing.

• Allows sentencing courts to suspend or modify the employment prohibition or termination if the court finds the person committed the offense because they reasonably feared employment-related retaliation.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
