Senate Bill 195 Summary

• Adds gaming agents and gaming control officers to the legal definition of "law enforcement officer" under Indiana criminal code (IC 35-31.5-2-185).

• Grants gaming agents full police powers to enforce gaming laws and authorizes them to make arrests, conduct searches and seizures, and exercise other police powers when offenses occur in their presence or while assisting other law enforcement officers at their request.

• Restricts gaming agents from exercising any police powers beyond those authorized by riverboat gambling law (IC 4-33-4.5) and race track casino law (IC 4-35).

• Effective upon passage with an emergency declaration.
