Senate Bill 200 Summary

• Requires presidential electors to vote for the candidates of the political party, group of petitioners, or write-in candidate that nominated them.

• An elector's failure or refusal to vote as required constitutes automatic resignation from office and their vote cannot be counted.

• Remaining electors must immediately fill any vacancy by paper ballot with a majority vote of those present.

• Governor must notify the newly elected elector by issuing a commission, and voting proceeds once a full slate is reassembled.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
