Senate Bill No. 281 Summary

• Prohibits lobbyists from providing anything of value to or paying for any expenses of legislative persons traveling outside Indiana.

• Makes it a Class D felony for a governmental entity chief executive to knowingly authorize expenditures of tax-derived revenue to engage a lobbyist or legislative liaison, with such agreements declared void.

• Voids any state appropriation from tax-funded state accounts designated to pay dues, fees, or expense reimbursements for meetings of the Council of State Governments, National Conference of State Legislatures, or National Conference of Insurance Legislators.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
