Senate Bill No. 287 Summary

• Reduces the signature requirement for annexation remonstrance petitions from at least 65% to at least 51% of landowners in the annexed territory for annexation ordinances adopted after June 30, 2013.

• Maintains the 65% signature threshold for annexation ordinances adopted before July 1, 2013.

• Provides an alternative remonstrance threshold of more than 75% in assessed land valuation that remains unchanged.

• Applies the same 51% signature reduction to court proceedings where opposition to annexation is considered under subsection (e)(2)(D).

• Becomes effective July 1, 2013.
