SB 303 Summary

• Creates a voting restriction for residents of excluded cities or towns within a county having a consolidated city, allowing them to vote for either the consolidated city mayor OR their local mayor/town council, but not both.

• Amends IC 3-10-6-13 to establish that affected voters may vote for one (1), but not both, of the following: the consolidated city mayor, or the excluded city/town mayor or council members.

• Modifies consolidated city mayoral election requirements to exclude voters who reside in excluded cities or towns and elect to vote for their local executives instead.

• Excludes affected voters from excluded city mayoral elections if they choose to vote for the consolidated city mayor under the new provisions.

• Excludes affected voters from town council elections if they choose to vote for the consolidated city mayor under the new provisions.

• Effective July 1, 2013.
