Senate Enrolled Act 361 - Bill Summary

• Adds new definition of "communicates" to intimidation statute, including posting messages electronically on social networking websites

• Expands Class D felony offense to include threats against employees of hospitals, churches, religious organizations, and owners/employees of buildings open to the public

• Changes Class C felony provision to specify threats against judges, bailiffs, prosecuting attorneys, and deputy prosecuting attorneys as separate offense from drawing or using a deadly weapon

• Removes prior felony classification for threats against judges and bailiffs from subsection (b)(1) and creates new subsection (b)(2) with Class C felony penalty

• Adds requirement that threats against protected persons (except witnesses) must be communicated because of the person's occupation, profession, employment status, or ownership status
