Prohibits a person who filed a declaration of candidacy as a member of one political party in a primary election from running as a candidate of a different party or as an independent in the next general or municipal election

Prohibits a person who voted a political party's ballot in a primary election from becoming a candidate of a different political party or an independent candidate in the subsequent general or municipal election

Maintains existing law that defeated primary candidates, convention candidates, or caucus candidates cannot run for the same office in the next general or municipal election

Clarifies that a person's prior election candidacy filings or voting history from elections before the most recent primary do not restrict their ability to file as a party candidate in future primaries

Effective date of July 1, 2013
