Senate Bill 612 Summary

• Removes funding for the state police from the motor vehicle highway account fund by eliminating the one-half deduction previously allocated to the state police department from motor vehicle tax collections.

• Appropriates $120,487,211 from the state general fund and $4,235,471 from the motor carrier regulation fund for each fiscal year 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 for the Indiana state police operations, including personal services ($103,652,441) and other operating expenses ($21,070,241).

• Appropriates $9,925,393 from the state general fund and $349,341 from the motor carrier regulation fund for each fiscal year 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 for forensic and health sciences laboratories.

• Appropriates $12,369,214 annually from the state general fund to the state police pension fund, $2,426,302 for the state police benefit fund, and $5,343,446 for supplemental pension benefits.

• Takes effect July 1, 2013, with appropriations expiring July 1, 2015.
